Mi amor,

It wasn’t until I met and fell in love with you that I fully understood what people mean when they said that love hurts.

But love is also always beautiful, regardless of the outcome, so I like to think that even though our love was painful it was equally magical.

You gave me so many priceless gifts over our time together; gifts I will look back on with gratitude for the rest of my life. You shifted my mindset in remarkable and lasting ways. You brought me to the depths of heartbreak, allowing me to develop a deeper appreciation for peace and love. You showed me many qualities that I want in a partner, and many that I don’t want as well.

When I think of the people in my life that have had the most profound impact on the woman I am today, your name easily floats to the top.

Our souls met and when they parted it burned, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Thank you for guiding me through my growth journey.

Thank you for teaching me to not fight for anyone who wouldn’t fight for me back.

Thank you for inviting me into your life, even though it was often hard.

Thank you for introducing me to dancing and music that I’ve fallen in love with.

Thank you for teaching me that being more discerning and skeptical of common thought are important skills.

Thank you for encouraging me to pursue my passion.

Thank you for calling me out when I was (very effectively) lying to myself.

Thank you for believing in me and being my #1 fan.

Thank you for grounding me when I was freaking out over nothing.

Thank you for showing me that a calm nervous system, love, and acceptance are things I cannot live without.

Thank you for letting me go.

And, most of all, thank you for breaking me—it has allowed me to build back better and stronger.

You will always hold a special and tender place in my heart.

Un abrazo,

Julia
